Lonliness vs Reality

All she wanted from him, in that moment, was for him to hold her and tell her everything would be okay. It didn't matter if he really meant it, because she knew he didn't. She just wanted to pretend.

She wanted to pretend that their one night... one moment together would last a lifetime. She wanted to pretend this would be the end of her lonliness.

But, in reality, lonliness is only a feeling. There's only truth to it if you allow that truth to exist. If you don't allow it to exist, it's nothing. It's just a simple word. A lonely word with three syllables.

But, somehow, to her it was reality. She allowed herself to turn it into reality. So, to her, lonliness had been real and would continue to be as long as her heart and mind told her so.

But not today. Today, she was in his arms, and he was telling her all the things she felt she needed to, and should, hear from him. Today it was not lonliness. It was comfort, safety... it was something much more than what his reality knew it was. Tomorrow, she would jump back on board with her reality - her lonely car on the emotional rollercoaster, doomed and headed straight for disaster.
