TEENAGERS HAVE SEX – THEIR PARENTS CONDONE THE ACT

Needless to say, I’m a huge fan of Secret Life of the American Teenager. I believe tonight is the last episode of this season, and I will be parked right in front of my television to watch as nothing but drama occurs between Ricky, Ben, Amy, and even the parents.

Throughout each episode, I can’t help but wonder just how all this mess begins in the first place. Sure, it’s just a show, and it’s all in the script, but things like this – unfortunately – happen in real life too.

Teenage pregnancy. It’s like a widespread disease. When I was growing up, I was barely allowed to have contact with other boys, much less enough contact in order to do what’s necessary to produce another human being.

When I was growing up, parental supervision was a must. What happened to that concept?

Where are parents really at these days, and just what are they doing? Obviously the answer doesn’t involve watching their children. ABCFamily.com for more information on sex education with your children. Talk it out, be a part of their lives, and pay attention!

How do you feel about being a grandparent in your thirties?
