Princess Ella was a smart young lady. She graduated valedictorian of her class, kept a 4.0 with all honors classes during her college career, and currently owned one of the most successful businesses this side of town.
Ella was also extremely talented, and very beautiful. She won over millions of pageant judges with her bright blue eyes, curly blonde hair, and the musical voice of an Angel.
One would think of Ella’s life as being enchanted, glorious, and one we all could only dream of. Among the millions of close friends and wonderful family members, Ella was lacking one thing—her happily ever after. She wanted that one true love—her prince charming—and was willing to go to the ends of the earth to find him.
Sure, she dated a few guys here and there. Seems she dated every male from every category possible—the rich man, poor man, beggar man, and even the thief.
Carl was one of the first on her list. He had it all—money, looks, brains, talent, and most definitely success. Well, she assumed he had it all. Carl wooed Ella—he won her over with his charm and expensive gifts. Once he had her, she began to see he had control issues. He wanted control over her. He had lost the control he had over his friends and family once they abandoned him, leaving Ella as his newfound target. He felt that the expensive gifts and romantic vacations he provided her with meant he deserved something in return—her mind, body, and soul.
Ella quickly developed a negative stereotype of the rich man, which led her to a new change of scenery—the poor man.
The poor man can quickly be confused with the beggar, and sometimes even possesses the exact same qualities as the beggar.
James was her next shot at true love. Sure, he was the exact opposite of Carl, but that’s exactly what Ella was hoping for. He was broke. Ella felt that without the money, fancy things, and all the other qualities her previous beau had, she would find a man who could show her honest love and devotion. She found some of her most passionate moments with James, until she realized that he was beginning to spend every single moment in her home, eating her food, using her phone, watching her television, and ultimately living her life. He couldn’t pay his own bills, so he was using her for food and shelter. James became completely lugubrious when Ella finally learned the truth.
Once again, she found herself on the lookout for someone other than another Carl or James.
Next came Paul. Paul was a beggar. No one really knows what drew Ella to him. He had some of the same qualities as James, yet somehow she saw him as being different—special. Ah, she felt that control over him the same way Carl had control over her once upon a time. Paul was weak. He needed her, and he made sure she knew it.
Finally, Timothy came along. He was everything she’d been looking for. He was her one true love—her prince charming. He was a little of all of the above mixed into one person. He had some of the controlling qualities of the rich man, but not too much to scare her off. He was around almost as much as the poor man, giving Ella the attention she craved. He was just as passionate as the poor man. He let her know he needed her like the beggar, yet he showed he could hold his own. And, above all, he stole her heart like a thief.
This was it—her happily ever after.
Oh no, it’s not quite that simple.
Ella found herself feeling uneasy about her relationship. She began having these feelings that Timothy just wasn’t being loyal or honest. She wasn’t sure why she was having these feelings or where they were coming from, but they were enough to send her snooping.
Ella began looking at phone records. She had people watch Timothy in town. She called to see what he was doing every hour on the hour.
Ella became crazy—every man’s worst nightmare—but she couldn’t seem to help herself. A part of her just wanted to prove to herself that he was being faithful to her. Trust wasn’t enough. Trust was broken with the first bad feeling she felt.
Ella got what she wanted—she proved something to herself, but it wasn’t what she had hoped to prove.
Timothy had been meeting up with other women at restaurants, nightclubs, and even hotel rooms. These were women unknown to Ella. He had met them all through various online chat rooms.
And here, my friend, you meet the thief. He steals your heart, makes you think everything is perfect—that he is perfect—and when he’s got you blindfolded with feelings of love, he goes behind your back to steal the hearts of many others.
Moral of the story: Never go in search for true love—it backfires every time.
