Love
It’s what she desired most
She hoped
She dreamed
She waited patiently for love
She found it
It came unexpectedly
It was as if her knight in shining armor came through to save the day
Her Disney fairy tale finally came true
Dreams of white
Silk and lace
Gorgeous flowers
Beautiful music
It was not her innermost desire
Her innermost desire to be loved blinded her to the facts that presented themselves
Through her bloody tears and busted jaws, she found a new strength and a new desire
She learned not to hope and dream for love
Love is simply a socially constructed concept
Definitions vary from person to person
She can only define what she calls love, not how others she comes in contact with define the term
In her mind, love involved another person
Survivor gives her a sense of strength
A sense of empowerment
She was able to see her situation for what it was worth
And end it
A victim would’ve stayed
A victim would’ve helped the abuse to continue
A victim would’ve seen themselves as unworthy of anything more, with no possible way out
She saw herself as worthy of so much more
Now, she chooses happiness as her innermost desire
Her definition doesn’t involve a second person
Only herself
And if happiness brings love, she knows it will be her personal definition of love and not another’s
The BFF 29 inspiration:
Begin your story or poem with this line:
"It was the one thing he (or she) desired the most."
